Sinestro Corps - Oath

Oath

When recharging their power rings, members of the Sinestro Corps recite the following oath:

In blackest day, in brightest night,
Beware your fears made into light
Let those who try to stop what's right,
Burn like my power*... Sinestro's might!

—Sinestro, Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special #1 (June 2007)

  • "My power" becomes "his power" when recited by other members of the Corps.

Famous quotes containing the word oath:

If its individual citizens, to a man, are to be believed, it always is depressed, and always is stagnated, and always is at an alarming crisis, and never was otherwise; though as a body, they are ready to make oath upon the Evangelists, at any hour of the day or night, that it is the most thriving and prosperous of all countries on the habitable globe.
    Charles Dickens (1812–1870)

On principle I dislike an oath which requires a man to swear he has not done wrong. It rejects the Christian principle of forgiveness on terms of repentance. I think it is enough if the man does no wrong hereafter.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

It is not the oath that makes us believe the man, but the man the oath.
    Aeschylus (525–456 B.C.)
