Shelly Yachimovich - Family and Personal Life

Family and Personal Life

She lives in Kerem HaTeimanim neighborhood in central Tel Aviv with her two children, Gal and Rama, in a 78 squared meters apartment. A feminist, Yachimovich reportedly refused to marry under the rabbinate religious authority. Today she is divorced, but maintains pleasant relations with ex-husband Noam Ziv, to whom she dedicated her last book.

She published her apartment's worth, her mortgage loan worth and previous income figures, in order to promote increased transparency of elected officials' interests. Claiming she has nothing to hide, she challenged all Members of Knesset to publish their own financial standing.

Famous quotes containing the words family, personal and/or life:

When one family builds a wall, two families benefit from it.
    Chinese proverb.

The white man regards the universe as a gigantic machine hurtling through time and space to its final destruction: individuals in it are but tiny organisms with private lives that lead to private deaths: personal power, success and fame are the absolute measures of values, the things to live for. This outlook on life divides the universe into a host of individual little entities which cannot help being in constant conflict thereby hastening the approach of the hour of their final destruction.
Policy statement, 1944, of the Youth League of the African National Congress. pt. 2, ch. 4, Fatima Meer, Higher than Hope (1988)

That life is really so tragic would least of all explain the origin of an art form—assuming that art is not merely imitation of the reality of nature but rather a metaphysical supplement of the reality of nature, placed beside it for its overcoming.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
