Music
Seycove's music program includes concert and jazz choirs, as well as an internationally acclaimed chamber choir. The choir is an auditioned student choral group. They have received numerous accolades in the past, winning "Best Youth Choir of the World" in the international Kathaumixw festival in Powell River, in July 2006. In May 2007, the chamber choir travelled to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall with the New England Symphony. The school also presents a musical production outside of its regular music program every other year involving Broadway musical selections. In February 2011, the Seycove Women's and Chorale choir again returned to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall.

Famous quotes containing the word music:
“To know whether you are enjoying a piece of music or not you must see whether you find yourself looking at the advertisements of Pears soap at the end of the libretto.”
—Samuel Butler (18351902)
“But the dark changed to red, and torches shone,
And deafening music shook the leaves; a troop
Shouldered a litter with a wounded man,
Or smote upon the string and to the sound
Sang of the beast that gave the fatal wound.”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
“Good-by, my book! Like mortal eyes, imagined ones must close some day. Onegin from his knees will risebut his creator strolls away. And yet the ear cannot right now part with the music and allow the tale to fade; the chords of fate itself continue to vibrate; and no obstruction for the sage exists where I have put The End: the shadows of my world extend beyond the skyline of the page, blue as tomorrows morning hazenor does this terminate the phrase.”
—Vladimir Nabokov (18991977)
