Importance in The Food Chain

These creatures, which are about the size of a lentil, are eaten by various marine species, including a wide variety of fish that are, in turn, consumed by penguins and polar bears. Famous quotes containing the words importance, food and/or chain:

I ascribe a basic importance to the phenomenon of language.... To speak means to be in a position to use a certain syntax, to grasp the morphology of this or that language, but it means above all to assume a culture, to support the weight of a civilization.
    Frantz Fanon (1925–1961)

Too much food spoils the appetite, and too much talk becomes worthless.
    Chinese proverb.

We are all bound to the throne of the Supreme Being by a flexible chain which restrains without enslaving us. The most wonderful aspect of the universal scheme of things is the action of free beings under divine guidance.
    Joseph De Maistre (1753–1821)
