Royal Highland Fusiliers

The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland (2 SCOTS) is an infantry battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

Prior to 28 March 2006, the Royal Highland Fusiliers was an infantry regiment in its own right; The Royal Highland Fusiliers (Princess Margaret's Own Glasgow and Ayrshire Regiment) was part of the Scottish Division, and abbreviated as 'The RHF'. The regiment was formed on 20 January 1959 by the then amalgamation of the Royal Scots Fusiliers, with the Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment).

As part of the Delivering Security in a Changing World Review of the Armed Forces, the regiment was amalgamated with the other regiments of the Scottish Division to become part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland which was formed on 28 March 2006.

Famous quotes containing the words royal and/or highland:

An Englishman, methinks,—not to speak of other European nations,—habitually regards himself merely as a constituent part of the English nation; he is a member of the royal regiment of Englishmen, and is proud of his company, as he has reason to be proud of it. But an American—one who has made tolerable use of his opportunities—cares, comparatively, little about such things, and is advantageously nearer to the primitive and the ultimate condition of man in these respects.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

If you would feel the full force of a tempest, take up your residence on the top of Mount Washington, or at the Highland Light, in Truro.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
