Ross Youngs - Personal Life

Personal Life

Youngs married Dorothy Pienecke, a woman from Brooklyn who he met while vacationing in the Berkshires, in October 1924. Their daughter Caroline was born in December 1925. Dorothy feuded with Youngs' mother, however, and the couple separated before the birth of Caroline, whom he never met. Youngs was considered friendly and generous, loaned money constantly, and was reportedly owed $16,000 at the time of his death ($214,069 in current dollar terms). Youngs enjoyed playing golf and was considered the best golfer in the major leagues.

Famous quotes containing the words personal and/or life:

I am in no boastful mood. I shall not do more than I can, and I shall do all I can to save the government, which is my sworn duty as well as my personal inclination. I shall do nothing in malice. What I deal with is too vast for malicious dealing.
    Abraham Lincoln (1809–1865)

All my life I have said, “Whatever happens there will always be tables and chairs”—and what a mistake.
    Elizabeth Bowen (1899–1973)
