Camera Recording
The photo was shot by a rapatronic camera (a high speed camera invented by Harold Edgerton and colleagues) built by EG&G. Each camera was capable of recording only one exposure on a single sheet of film. Therefore, in order to create time-lapse sequences, banks of four to ten cameras were set up to take photos in rapid succession. The average exposure time used was three microseconds.

Famous quotes containing the words camera and/or recording:
“If I were just curious, it would be very hard to say to someone, I want to come to your house and have you talk to me and tell me the story of your life. I mean people are going to say, Youre crazy. Plus theyre going to keep mighty guarded. But the camera is a kind of license. A lot of people, they want to be paid that much attention and thats a reasonable kind of attention to be paid.”
—Diane Arbus (19231971)
“He shall not die, by G, cried my uncle Toby.
MThe ACCUSING SPIRIT which flew up to heavens chancery with the oath, blushd as he gave it in;and the RECORDING ANGEL as he wrote it down, droppd a tear upon the word, and blotted it out for ever.”
—Laurence Sterne (17131768)
