Founder

Artemis Institute’s founder and director is Lori Ryker. She is originally from Texas but makes her home in Montana, an ideal location for the Remote Studio. She has a Ph.D. from Texas A & M University and a Master of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design (GSD). Her Ph.D. serves as the pedagogical formwork and research for the Remote Studio. She is the author of 3 books, Mockbee Coker: Thought and Process (ISBN 1-56898-042-6), Off The Grid: Modern Homes and Alternative Technology (ISBN 1-58685-516-6), and Off The Grid Homes: Case Studies for Sustainable Living (ISBN 1-58685-689-8). She is a founding partner of Ryker/Nave Design located in Livingston, Montana. She taught at Montana State University, Auburn University and Texas A&M before launching Artemis Institute.
