Career
Shiota won the bronze medal in the 2007 BWF World Championships in women's doubles with Kumiko Ogura. They were defeated in semifinals by Gao Ling and Huang Sui of China, 16-21, 25-23, 6-21.
She represented Japan in the mixed doubles at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
