In the Canadian Forces, a Regular Force unit or person is part of the full-time military, as opposed to being part of the Primary Reserve which has more flexibility. They receive more pay and benefits than members of the Primary Reserve and can be ordered into overseas deployments.
Regular Force personnel are employed full-time, and have usually signed long-term contracts ranging anywhere from three to nine years, not including subsidized training or education.
There are approximately 65,251 Regular Force personnel in the Canadian Forces.
Famous quotes containing the words regular and/or force:
“[I]n our country economy, letter writing is an hors doeuvre. It is no part of the regular routine of the day.”
—Thomas Jefferson (17431826)
“Nations do not think, they only feel. They get their feelings at second hand through their temperaments, not their brains. A nation can be broughtby force of circumstances, not argumentto reconcile itself to any kind of government or religion that can be devised; in time it will fit itself to the required conditions; later it will prefer them and will fiercely fight for them.”
—Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (18351910)
