Red meat gets its color from the iron found in the myoglobin and hemoglobin in the muscles and residual blood.

Famous quotes containing the words food and, food and/or drink:
“There is no instant of time when one creature is not being devoured by another. Over all these numerous races of animals man is placed, and his destructive hand spares nothing that lives. Proud and terrible king, he wants everything and nothing resists him.”
—Joseph De Maistre (17531821)

And loves to live i th sun,
Seeking the food he eats,
And pleased with what he gets,
Come hither, come hither, come hither!”
