Pure Rock Fury is the fifth full-length album by rock band Clutch. It was released in 2001 (see 2001 in music), and contains 13 tracks. This album features guest appearances by Scott Weinrich, Leslie West, and Dan and Joe from the band Sixty Watt Shaman. The album yielded a minor hit with "Careful With That Mic...", a rap metal parody which CMJ complimented for its clever rhymes. The song "Immortal" is featured in the video game Hitman: Contracts. The song "Pure Rock Fury" is featured in the video game MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.
"Immortal" was originally released with different lyrics, and a different arrangement, as the song "Baby I'm Down" by Leslie West on Mountain, Leslie West's first solo album (which some consider to be the first Mountain album). Clutch covered the song on this album, rearranging it and changing the lyrics. Clutch's version features a guitar solo by Leslie West. Mountain then covered this version of the song on their Mystic Fire album.

Famous quotes containing the words pure, rock and/or fury:
“I was glad to have got out of the towns, where I am wont to feel unspeakably mean and disgraced,to have left behind me for a season the bar-rooms of Massachusetts, where the full-grown are not weaned from savage and filthy habits, still sucking a cigar. My spirits rose in proportion to the outward dreariness. The towns needed to be ventilated. The gods would be pleased to see some pure flames from their altars. They are not to be appeased with cigar-smoke.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“So there he is at last. Man on the moon. The poor magnificent bungler! He cant even get to the office without undergoing the agonies of the damned, but give him a little metal, a few chemicals, some wire and twenty or thirty billion dollars and, vroom! there he is, up on a rock a quarter of a million miles up in the sky.”
—Russell Baker (b. 1925)
“We Irish, born into that ancient sect
But thrown upon this filthy modern tide
And by its formless spawning fury wrecked,
Climb to our proper dark, that we may trace
The lineaments of a plummet-measured face.”
—William Butler Yeats (18651939)
