The Efficacy of Electrical Repellent Systems

The efficacy of electrical repellent systems has been the subject of some concern since the introduction of the Shark Shield product range, particularly in Australia.

In 2010, SafeWork SA, the government agency responsible for administering occupational health, safety and welfare laws in South Australia, commissioned a study into the effectiveness of the Shark Shield Freedom 7™ product. The findings of the research which were released in June 2012, found that that the Shark Shield Freedom 7™ ‘had an effect on the behaviour of white sharks, but did not deter or repel them in all situations.’
