Princess Jasmine

Princess Jasmine (Arabic: لاميرة ياسمين‎) is a fictional character from Walt Disney Pictures' thirty-first animated feature film, Aladdin (1992). The character subsequently appears in the film's two direct-to-video sequels The Return of Jafar (1994) and Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996), as well as its animated television series. In all film and television appearances, Jasmine's speaking voice is provided by American actress Linda Larkin. Filipina singer and actress Lea Salonga provides the character's singing voice in the first film, while American actress and singer Liz Callaway replaces her in the sequel.

Created by directors Ron Clements and John Musker and animated by Mark Henn, Jasmine is the beautiful and well sought-after princess of Agrabah who is being forced to marry a prince by her sixteenth birthday. Notorious for having rejected several wealthy suitors, Jasmine is fed up with her sheltered palace life and wishes to marry someone for who they are rather than what they own.

Jasmine is based on Princess Badroulbadour from the tale of "Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp" in The Book of One Thousand and One Nights (Arabian Nights). The character has received a generally mixed reception from critics. While many enjoyed her strong-willed and free-spirited personality, others criticized her role in the film, which they felt was "bland" and "unoriginal".She is an Official Disney Princess with an Arabic Appearance.
