Singer-songwriter Loudon Wainwright III wrote a song, 'The Krugman Blues', in humorous praise of Krugman, writing "...all the other experts all seem way off base, and I guess that I identify with that pissed-off look on Paul's face". The song was released on the album 10 Songs for the New Depression.

Famous quotes containing the words popular and/or culture:
“It is among the ranks of school-age children, those six- to twelve-year-olds who once avidly filled their free moments with childhood play, that the greatest change is evident. In the place of traditional, sometimes ancient childhood games that were still popular a generation ago, in the place of fantasy and make- believe play . . . todays children have substituted television viewing and, most recently, video games.”
—Marie Winn (20th century)
“The future is built on brains, not prom court, as most people can tell you after attending their high school reunion. But youd never know it by talking to kids or listening to the messages they get from the culture and even from their schools.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1953)
