Open G Tuning - Use in Rock Music

Use in Rock Music

Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones is famous for introducing the 5-string version of the open G tuning to rock music on songs such as "Brown Sugar", "Honky Tonk Women", and "Start Me Up”. Ace Frehley, original guitarist for the American theatrical rock band KISS, used 5-string open G tuning on the songs “Two Sides Of The Coin” and “Talk To Me” of 1980's Unmasked. “Talk To Me” became a minor hit in Australia and was KISS’s last hit song of their "makeup era".
