Official State Car - Republic of China (Taiwan)

Republic of China (Taiwan)

The President of the Republic of China has historically travelled in Cadillac sedans, reflecting the ROC's close relations with the United States. Former President Chiang Kai Shek's two armored Cadillacs are on exhibition in the Lincoln Memorial-like National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in the capital city of Taipei. The current president Ma Ying-jeou uses an BMW 740i. However, his predecessor Chen Shui-bian discontinued use of a Cadillac DeVille, preferring a Lincoln in his first term and a BMW 7-Series in his second term.

Famous quotes containing the words republic and/or china:

It was the most ungrateful and unjust act ever perpetrated by a republic upon a class of citizens who had worked and sacrificed and suffered as did the women of this nation in the struggle of the Civil War only to be rewarded at its close by such unspeakable degradation as to be reduced to the plane of subjects to enfranchised slaves.
    Anna Howard Shaw (1847–1919)

The awakening of the people of China to the possibilities under free government is the most significant, if not the most momentous, event of our generation.
    Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924)
