Christianity

The Christian New Testament makes mention of the nous or noos in Romans 7:23, 12:2; 1 Corinthians 14:14, 14:19; Ephesians 4:17, 4:23; 2 Thessalonians 2:2; and Revelation 17:9. In the writings of the Christian fathers a sound or pure nous is considered essential to the cultivation of wisdom.

Famous quotes containing the word christianity:

It is our taste that decides against Christianity now, no longer our reasons.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)

The real security of Christianity is to be found in its benevolent morality, in its exquisite adaptation to the human heart, in the facility with which its scheme accommodates itself to the capacity of every human intellect, in the consolation which it bears to the house of mourning, in the light with which it brightens the great mystery of the grave.
    Thomas Babington Macaulay (1800–1859)
