Famous quotes containing the words northern, illinois, university and/or shooting:

The note of the white-throated sparrow, a very inspiriting but almost wiry sound, was first heard in the morning, and with this all the woods rang. This was the prevailing bird in the northern part of Maine. The forest generally was alive with them at this season, and they were proportionally numerous and musical about Bangor. They evidently breed in that State.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

An Illinois woman has invented a portable house which can be carried about in a cart or expressed to the seashore. It has also folding furniture and a complete camping outfit.
    Lydia Hoyt Farmer (1842–1903)

The most important function of the university in an age of reason is to protect reason from itself.
    Allan Bloom (1930–1992)

    My time has come.
There are twenty people in my belly,
there is a magnitude of wings,
there are forty eyes shooting like arrows,
and they will all be born.
All be born in the yellow wind.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)
