Railway Stations As Creative Community Hubs Project
The Stations as Creative Community Hubs project was a Victorian Government pilot project that aimed to transform railway stations into safer and more attractive public spaces through community involvement. North Shore was one of three stations chosen by the State government to be part of the project, the other two being Laverton and Mooroolbark stations. In early 2008, a community taskforce was formed to develop ideas for improvements to North Shore Station which aimed to tap into local identity, while encouraging pride and ownership of the station, leading to a better local community.
The Stations as Creative Community Hubs project was terminated by the State government towards the end of 2010. Over the time of the project, the North Shore Taskforce was able to have five extra train services stop at North Shore each weekday, and every weekend service (except those to and from Warrnambool), as well as mentoring a Stationeers group, and a Meet-and-Greet group, which meets every Overland service from Adelaide to Melbourne (and some services travelling in the other direction), to assist passengers alighting at North Shore.

But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arms length.”

“Jesus would recommend you to pass the first day of the week rather otherwise than you pass it now, and to seek some other mode of bettering the morals of the community than by constraining each other to look grave on a Sunday, and to consider yourselves more virtuous in proportion to the idleness in which you pass one day in seven.”

The hubs of logs from the Settlers ellum,
Last of its timber, they couldnt sell em,”
