Personal Life
Bakay was born in Buffalo, New York where he attended Nichols School. He graduated from Kenyon College in 1981.
Bakay met his wife Robin while working at Comedy Central, where she was writing and producing on-air promos. They married in February 1994 and have two children together, and now live in West Hollywood along with a dog and two cats, one of whom is named Salem, for his character on Sabrina. Robin is a former Playboy model who did a nude layout in the July 1984 issue under her maiden name Robin Avener. She was not the official playmate in the issue, but rather a feature in the magazine. At the time she was working as an advertising executive at a Madison Avenue firm. He is a Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan.
He is still friends with Angry Beavers co-star Richard Horvitz.
