Route Description
Route 236 begins at Route 108 and travels east to downtown Somersworth as West High Street. In the center of town, Route 236 turns to the north and intersects Route 9. Route 236 joins Route 9, and the two routes continues north of Somersworth and cross the state line into Berwick, Maine. NH Route 236 ends, but its continuation, Maine State Route 236, begins less than 1/4 mile past the state line, splitting from State Route 9. No concurrency is signed on the Maine side, rather there is a gap in 236 between the state line and the northern terminus of Maine State Route 236.
NH Route 236 runs through the town of Somersworth, and is known as West High Street.
