New Hampshire Route 236

New Hampshire Route 236 is a 2.07-mile (3.33 km) long east–west road in the city of Somersworth, New Hampshire. Its western terminus is at an intersection with New Hampshire Route 108 west of downtown. Its eastern terminus is at the Maine state line in Somersworth. Routes 9 and 236 cross the border, where Route 236 ends and Route 9 becomes Maine State Route 9. Maine has its own Route 236 which begins just over the border. Although the two highways share a number, they do not directly connect to one another.

Famous quotes containing the words hampshire and/or route:

    Anything I can say about New Hampshire
    Will serve almost as well about Vermont,
    Excepting that they differ in their mountains.
    The Vermont mountains stretch extended straight;
    New Hampshire mountains curl up in a coil.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

    By a route obscure and lonely,
    Haunted by ill angels only,
    Where an eidolon, named Night,
    On a black throne reigns upright,
    I have reached these lands but newly
    From an ultimate dim Thule—
    From a wild weird clime that lieth, sublime,
    Out of space—out of time.
    Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849)
