National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians - Association Members

Association Members

State Public Health Veterinarians (SPHVs) are employees of the state health department, usually in the epidemiology division. Their main focus is the prevention and control of zoonotic disease (diseases transmitted from animals to people). SPHVs often consult with health departments and local officials in providing this prevention and control. Most SPHVs hold singular authority in a state on rabies exposure.

SPHVs may also be employed at the CDC, at colleges and universities, at the FDA, at the USDA, at the National Center for Environmental Health, and in military programs. Board certification for State Public Health Veterinarians is governed by the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine. SPHVs are usually also board-certified in other veterinary disciplines.

Famous quotes containing the words association and/or members:

In this great association we know no North, no South, no East, no West. This has been our pride for all these years. We have no political party. We never have inquired what anybody’s religion is. All we ever have asked is simply, “Do you believe in perfect equality for women?” This is the one article in our creed.
    Susan B. Anthony (1820–1906)

Man is more disposed to domination than freedom; and a structure of dominion not only gladdens the eye of the master who rears and protects it, but even its servants are uplifted by the thought that they are members of a whole, which rises high above the life and strength of single generations.
    Karl Wilhelm Von Humboldt (1767–1835)
