MITES

MITES, or Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science, is a highly selective (5-6% acceptance rate) six-week summer program for rising high school seniors held at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Its purpose is to expose students from minority, or otherwise disadvantaged backgrounds, to the fields of science and engineering. The program also aims to foster an interest in these subject matters and prepare students for the pressures of college life.

Famous quotes containing the word mites:

Dead men may envy living mites in cheese,
Or good germs even. Microbes have their joys,
And subdivide, and never come to death.
    Wilfred Owen (1893–1918)
