Marvel Studios, originally known as Marvel Films from 1993-1996, is an American television and motion picture studio based in Manhattan Beach, California. Founded in 1993, Marvel Studios is a division of Marvel Entertainment, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company conglomerate.
Since 2008, the studio has released six produced films — Iron Man (2008), The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), and Marvel's The Avengers (2012) — with shared timeline, cast and characters, making up the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
