Loan Officer

Loan Officer

Loan Officers, also referred to as "Mortgage Loan Originators", work for banks and other financial institutions with the main objective to recommend individual and business loan applications for approval. Loan officers specialize in commercial, consumer and mortgage loans.

Although they are employed by financial institutions, they can be seen as intermediaries between lending institutions and borrowers. They solicit loans, represent creditors to borrowers, and represent borrowers to creditors.

Famous quotes containing the words loan and/or officer:

Slight was the thing I bought,
Small was the debt I thought,
Poor was the loan at best—
    God! but the interest!
    Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872–1906)

When Prince William [later King William IV] was at Cork in 1787, an old officer ... dined with him, and happened to say he had been forty years in the service. The Prince with a sneer asked what he had learnt in those forty years. The old gentleman justly offended, said, “Sir, I have learnt, when I am no longer fit to fight, to make as good a retreat as I can” —and walked out of the room.
    Horace Walpole (1717–1797)
