Liberal Democrat Frontbench Team
The Liberal Democrats are the third-largest political party in the United Kingdom. While in opposition, the Liberal Democrat leader appointed a team of Members of Parliament (MPs) and Peers to speak for the party on different issues. Their areas of responsibility broadly corresponded to those of Government ministers. The party called its frontbench the Liberal Democrat shadow ministerial team. The shadow ministerial team was divided into departmental sub-units, such as Education, Health and Foreign Affairs. The leader of each departmental team was a member of the Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet.

Famous quotes containing the words liberal, democrat and/or team:
“... as a result of generations of betrayal, it’s nearly impossible for Southern Negroes to trust a Southern white. No matter what he does or what he suffers, a white liberal is never established beyond suspicion in the hearts of the minority.”
—Sarah Patton Boyle, U.S. civil rights activist and author. The Desegregated Heart, part 2, ch. 10 (1962)
“The American doctrinaire is the converse of the American demagogue, and, in this way, is scarcely less injurious to the public. The first deals in poetry, the last in cant. He is as much a visionary on one side, as the extreme theoretical democrat is a visionary on the other.”
—James Fenimore Cooper (1789–1851)
“Is my team ploughing,
That I was used to drive
And hear the harness jingle
When I was man alive?”
—A.E. (Alfred Edward)
