Latin Alternative

Latin Alternative, or Alterlatino, is the brand of latin music produced by combining genres like alternative rock, electronica, metal, New Wave, pop rock, punk rock, reggae, heavy metal or ska with traditional Latin American sounds. Because these genres are generally considered to fall under the broad Rock en EspaƱol or Latin Rock category, media coverage started to use the word 'Latin Alternative', especially in the United States.

Famous quotes containing the words latin and/or alternative:

Americans living in Latin American countries are often more snobbish than the Latins themselves. The typical American has quite a bit of money by Latin American standards, and he rarely sees a countryman who doesn’t. An American businessman who would think nothing of being seen in a sport shirt on the streets of his home town will be shocked and offended at a suggestion that he appear in Rio de Janeiro, for instance, in anything but a coat and tie.
    Hunter S. Thompson (b. 1939)

Our mother gives us our earliest lessons in love—and its partner, hate. Our father—our “second other”Melaborates on them. Offering us an alternative to the mother-baby relationship . . . presenting a masculine model which can supplement and contrast with the feminine. And providing us with further and perhaps quite different meanings of lovable and loving and being loved.
    Judith Viorst (20th century)
