Kenney-Silver was the lead singer and bass guitarist of the indie rock band Cake Like. She has had a longtime friendship with actor Nick Swardson since he was a baby, with him attending Thanksgiving dinner. She is married to cinematographer Steven V. Silver and they have one son, Kai, born on August 6, 2005.
