Kerr Lake State Recreation Area

Kerr Lake State Recreation Area is a North Carolina state park in Vance and Warren Counties, North Carolina in the United States. Located near Henderson, North Carolina near the North Carolina-Virginia border, it includes much of the 50,000 acre (202 km²) man-made Kerr Lake. The lake, and thus the park, are named for Congressman John H. Kerr, who supported the original lake project.

Famous quotes containing the words lake, state, recreation and/or area:

Like a canoe route across the great lake on whose shore
One is left trapped, grumbling not so much at bad luck as
Because only this one side of experience is ever revealed.
    And that meant something.
    John Ashbery (b. 1927)

Thus we steadily worship Mammon, both school and state and church, and on the seventh day curse God with a tintamar from one end of the Union to the other.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Media mystifications should not obfuscate a simple, perceivable fact; Black teenage girls do not create poverty by having babies. Quite the contrary, they have babies at such a young age precisely because they are poor—because they do not have the opportunity to acquire an education, because meaningful, well-paying jobs and creative forms of recreation are not accessible to them ... because safe, effective forms of contraception are not available to them.
    Angela Davis (b. 1944)

I am aware of the damp souls of housemaids
    Sprouting despondently at area gates.
    —T.S. (Thomas Stearns)
