Cooaching Career
When Willingham was fired as coach on November 30, 2004, Baer was named interim head coach until Charlie Weis was hired in early 2005. When Willingham accepted an offer from the University of Washington to be the new head coach, he brought Baer along to serve as defensive coordinator, as he had at Notre Dame. At the conclusion of the 2007 season, after a statistically worst defensive season in UW football history, Willingham decided to let Baer go. In the three years at UW, the defense ranked 94, 95 and 98 in total defense, 89, 85 and 94 in scoring defense, and 106, 102 and 85 in passing defense.(1) On April 14, 2008 Kent Baer was hired as a Defensive Assistant with San Jose State University.
On December 11, 2012, Baer became interim head coach of San Jose State after Mike MacIntyre resigned to become head coach at Colorado. Baer will coach the team for the 2012 Military Bowl on December 27. After the Military Bowl, Baer will join MacIntyre's Colorado staff as defensive coordinator.

Famous quotes containing the word career:
“The 19-year-old Diana ... decided to make her career that of wife. Today that can be a very, very iffy line of work.... And what sometimes happens to the women who pursue it is the best argument imaginable for teaching girls that they should always be able to take care of themselves.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
