Sporting Houses

There are four houses operating within the school. These are further divided into form classes, which hold meetings every morning to distribute news and information. The four houses are:

  • Bowen - named after Queensland's first Governor Sir George Bowen
    House colour: White and Black
  • Griffith - named after former Queensland Premier and Australian Chief Justice Sir Samuel Walker Griffith
    House colour: Red and White
  • Lutwyche - named after Brisbane's first Resident Judge, Alfred Lutwyche
House colour: Sky Blue and Dark Blue
  • Wickham - named in honour of former Queensland Police Magistrate John Clements Wickham
    House colour: Green and Gold

Famous quotes containing the words sporting and/or houses:

The Boston papers had never told me that there were seals in the harbor. I had always associated these with the Esquimaux and other outlandish people. Yet from the parlor windows all along the coast you may see families of them sporting on the flats. They were as strange to me as the merman would be. Ladies who never walk in the woods, sail over the sea. To go to sea! Why, it is to have the experience of Noah,—to realize the deluge. Every vessel is an ark.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It breedeth no small offence and scandal to see and consider upon the one part the curiosity and cost bestowed by all sorts of men upon their private houses; and on the other part the unclean and negligent order and spare keeping of the houses of prayer by permitting open decays and ruins of coverings of walls and windows, and by appointing unmeet and unseemly tables with foul cloths for the communion of the sacrament.
    Elizabeth I (1533–1603)
