Kallang MRT Station - Platform Screen Doors

Platform Screen Doors

As with most of the above-ground stations along the East West Line, it was built without platform screen doors to prevent commuters from falling onto the train tracks. Installation of half-height platform screen doors was started on 19 December 2010 and started operation on 25 February 2011 with Kembangan.

Famous quotes containing the words platform, screen and/or doors:

I marched in with the men afoot; a gallant show they made as they marched up High Street to the depot. Lucy and Mother Webb remained several hours until we left. I saw them watching me as I stood on the platform at the rear of the last car as long as they could see me. Their eyes swam. I kept my emotion under control enough not to melt into tears.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

    The End?
—Theodore Simonson. Irvin S. Yeaworth, Jr.. End title card, The Blob, printed on screen at the end of the movie (1958)

Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man. For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire. Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it. We solicitously and apologetically caress and celebrate him, because he held on his way and scorned our disapprobation. The gods loved him because men hated him.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
