  • London is chosen as the host city for the 2012 Olympic Games, beating Paris in the final round of votes 54 to 50. Other candidates, in order of elimination, were Moscow, New York and Madrid. The election took place at the Raffles City Convention Centre in Singapore during the 117th IOC Session held in the same city, bringing to an end the bidding process started two years earlier.
