Journal of Rehabilitation Research and Development - History

History

  • 1964: The Bulletin of Prosthetics Research (BPR), the first in-house Veterans Administration medical journal, published its premier issue and continued for the next 18 years, through 1982.
  • 1983: BPR was expanded into JRRD, which has been published continuously since 1983. From the first issue, JRRD's scope of coverage was more inclusive than BPR's, including assistive technology (wheelchairs, hearing and reading devices, computers as speech aids), spinal cord injury, prosthetics and orthotics, postsurgical amputation management, and gait restoration.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

History does nothing; it does not possess immense riches, it does not fight battles. It is men, real, living, who do all this.... It is not “history” which uses men as a means of achieving—as if it were an individual person—its own ends. History is nothing but the activity of men in pursuit of their ends.
    Karl Marx (1818–1883)
