On 7 October 2012, Legear was involved in a car accident, where he crashed his car inside a Esso gas station located in Tongeren, having mistaken the brake for the accelerator pedal. Damage costs were revealed to be between €250,000 and €300,000 by an Esso spokesman, with Legear also receiving a two-week driving suspension. He had earlier been involved in an similar incident in 2009, where he was sentenced to 50 hours of community service for having driven his car into a house after a night out.
