John Ruddy - International Career

International Career

On 16 May 2012, Ruddy received his first senior international call-up when Roy Hodgson selected him to be a member of the England squad for the 2012 European Championships. However, a broken finger ruled him out of the tournament, with Jack Butland called up to replace him. Ruddy was called up for the friendly against Italy in Bern, Switzerland on 10 August 2012, along with Butland and Joe Hart. He came on at half time for Butland to make his full England debut, and made some key saves as England won the game 2–1, keeping a clean sheet in his first England appearance as Butland conceded in the first half.

Famous quotes containing the word career:

It is a great many years since at the outset of my career I had to think seriously what life had to offer that was worth having. I came to the conclusion that the chief good for me was freedom to learn, think, and say what I pleased, when I pleased. I have acted on that conviction... and though strongly, and perhaps wisely, warned that I should probably come to grief, I am entirely satisfied with the results of the line of action I have adopted.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)
