When on tour with the performance of Grease in 2006, he met the co-starring actress Bettina Holwerda, who is 9 years his senior. On the stage the car in which they were sitting, fell 12 ft down and they both were admitted to hospital where they soon fell in love and became a couple. In an interview for a motoring magazine on June 12, 2007 Jim stated to have a crush on strong women that also happen to be a little bit older. He proposed on September 22, 2010, and on Friday June 10, 2011 they were married in the Amsterdam Vondel Church. On May 16, 2012 it was announced that they are expecting a baby.
