On May 21, 1998, a student brought a .38 caliber handgun in his backpack. The gun discharged when the student dropped the backpack, and the bullet hit a 15-year old female student in the leg.
In 1998 the Jersey Village Football team was defeated by Duncanville High School (Dallas) and the Division 5A State Playoffs Semi-Finals. Jersey Village had previously beaten Plano High School, Bryan High School, and Klein High School in earlier rounds. In 1995 the team defeated Tyler John Tyler (the number one team in the state) before losing to Lake Highlands in later rounds.
