Jardine Matheson Group
Jardine Matheson Holdings Ltd. (SGX: J36, LSE: JAR) often referred to as Jardines, is a conglomerate with strong property interests, based in Hong Kong and incorporated in Bermuda. It has a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange and secondary listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Singapore Exchange, the latter being where the vast majority of Jardines shares are traded.
One of the original Hong Kong trading houses or Hongs that date back to Imperial China, as of December 2010, 41% of the company's profits were still earned in China.
With roots that can be traced back to the founding of the Hong King settlement, today, Jardines is a Fortune Global 500 company that consists of Jardine Pacific, Jardine Motors Group, Jardine Strategic, Dairy Farm, Hongkong Land, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Jardine Cycle & Carriage and Astra International. It also owns 42% of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group and has an investment (21%) in Rothschilds Continuation Holdings, the merchant banking house.
