Special Effects Work
Much of the experience Hyneman uses on Mythbusters comes from his time in the visual and special effects professions. Hyneman first broke into the effects industry in the late 80s as an uncredited special effects crew member on Top Gun. From there, Hyneman spent times as an animatronics technician for films such as Naked Lunch and Flubber. In the late 90s and early 2000s, Hyneman worked as a special effects technician on Star Wars: Episode I and II, as well as the second and third installment of the Matrix Trilogy.
Currently, Hyneman owns his own special effects company, M5 Industries, located in San Francisco.

Famous quotes containing the words special, effects and/or work:
“I dont like to be idle; in fact, I often feel somewhat guilty unless there is some purpose to what I am doing. But spending a few hoursor a few daysin the woods, swamps or alongside a stream has never seemed to me a waste of time.... I derive special benefit from a period of solitude.”
—Jimmy Carter (James Earl Carter, Jr.)
“Virtues are not emotions. Emotions are movements of appetite, virtues dispositions of appetite towards movement. Moreover emotions can be good or bad, reasonable or unreasonable; whereas virtues dispose us only to good. Emotions arise in the appetite and are brought into conformity with reason; virtues are effects of reason achieving themselves in reasonable movements of the appetites. Balanced emotions are virtues effect, not its substance.”
—Thomas Aquinas (c. 12251274)
“The truth of the thoughts that are here set forth seems to me unassailable and definitive. I therefore believe myself to have found, on all essential points, the final solution of the problems. And if I am not mistaken in this belief, then the second thing in which the value of this work consists is that it shows how little is achieved when these problems are solved.”
—Ludwig Wittgenstein (18891951)
