Artistic Work
Wong's interested and talent in pottery took off after she was grateful enough to have a merchant on Grant Avenue in San Francisco put her work in their store front. Her pottery was later displayed in art museums across the United States, including a 2002 exhibition at the Chinese Historical Society of America. They were also displayed at The M.H. de Young Museum (Memorial Museum), the museum of Modern Art (San Francisco), Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Modern Art (New York City), The National Collection of Fine Arts at the Smithsonian Institution (Washington D.C.) and the Cincinnati Art Museum. In addition to her displays across the country, Wong also had permanent collections at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, Detroit Institute of Arts and the International Ceramic Museum in Faenza, Italy. The popularity of pottery and enamelware lead to Wong having one-women shows at the Art Institute of Chicago and later to museums in Detroit, Omaha, Nebraska and Portland, Oregon.

Famous quotes containing the words artistic and/or work:
“What the study of history and artistic creation have in common is a mode of forming images.”
—Johan Huizinga (18721945)
“As long as the womans work that some men do is socially devalued, as long as it is defined as womans work, as long as its tacked onto a regular work day, men who share it are likely to develop the same jagged mouth and frazzled hair as the coffee-mug mom. The image of the new man is like the image of the supermom: it obscures the strain.”
—Arlie Hochschild (20th century)
