Iliev represented Yugoslavia at youth level, playing in the UEFA under-16, under-18 and under-21 competition matches.
He debuted for the Serbia and Montenegro national team against Germany in a friendly match on 30 April 2003. He scored in his second match against Poland, a friendly game played the same year on 16 November.
