The International Classification of Sleep Disorders (ICSD) is "a primary diagnostic, epidemiological and coding resource for clinicians and researchers in the field of sleep and sleep medicine."
It is produced by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, in association with the European Sleep Research Society, the Japanese Society of Sleep Research, and the Latin American Sleep Society. The ICSD was first published in 1990. In 1997 it was revised; the title was changed to The International Classification of Sleep Disorders, Revised (ICSD-R) and the authorship was changed from "Diagnostic Classification Steering Committee, Thorpy MJ, Chairman" to "American Academy of Sleep Medicine". A second edition, called ICSD-2, was published in 2005.
Famous quotes containing the words sleep and/or disorders:
“Sweet is the sleep of laborers, whether they eat little or much; but the surfeit of the rich will not let them sleep.”
—Bible: Hebrew, Ecclesiastes 5:12.
“It no longer makes sense to speak of feeding problems or sleep problems or negative behavior is if they were distinct categories, but to speak of problems of development and to search for the meaning of feeding and sleep disturbances or behavior disorders in the developmental phase which has produced them.”
—Selma H. Fraiberg (20th century)
