The Indian National League (INL) is a Muslim-based political party in India, mainly active in the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. INL is a splinter-group of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). The party was formed on April 23, 1994, when Ibrahim Sulaiman Sait was expelled from IUML. Over 700 delegates, especially invited in view of their eminent stature in society, from over 14 states, converged in the Indian capital of New Delhi for the Indian Muslim political convention. This truly representative body resolved to adopt the recommendations of a high powered committee, consisting of 25 eminent leaders to launch a new secular, democratic and national party, named the Indian National League. This political party has been open to all citizens of India who sincerely adhere to the constitutional creed of secularism. The principles include unity and integrity of India, the rule of law, and equal respect to people belonging to different religions, classes, back grounds, regions, languages, and identities. The primary thrust of policies of the party would be to protect and preserve the identity, dignity, life, and property of all Indians especially the underprivileged. The party has made efforts towards drawing individuals, from all levels of society, into the national mainstream towards fuller participation in the process of national rebuilding and reconciliation. This secular party will fight against bigoted and communal forces and will not tolerate the desecration of any temple, mosque, gurudwara, or church, nor will it permit interference in the personal faith or religious affairs of any community.

Famous quotes containing the words indian, national and/or league:
“When an Indian is burned, his body may be broiled, it may be no more than a beefsteak. What of that? They may broil his heart, but they do not therefore broil his courage, his principles. Be of good courage! That is the main thing.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“...America has enjoyed the doubtful blessing of a single-track mind. We are able to accommodate, at a time, only one national hero; and we demand that that hero shall be uniform and invincible. As a literate people we are preoccupied, neither with the race nor the individual, but with the type. Yesterday, we romanticized the tough guy; today, we are romanticizing the underprivileged, tough or tender; tomorrow, we shall begin to romanticize the pure primitive.”
—Ellen Glasgow (18731945)
“Stereotypes fall in the face of humanity. You toodle along, thinking that all gay men wear leather after dark and should never, ever be permitted around a Little League field. And then one day your best friend from college, the one your kids adore, comes out to you.”
—Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)
