Alumni-institute interaction is maintained through the Alumni Network under the aegis of the Dean of Alumni Affairs and International Relations, his office staff and student representatives. It also helps in conducting the annual alumni meets.
Students' Alumni Cell
The Students’ Alumni Cell, a voluntary student body, endeavours to promote the welfare of IIT Kharagpur and to establish a mutually beneficial relationship between the alumni and alma mater. Over the past few years, the Students' Alumni Cell has emerged as a key organ of the Office of Alumni Affairs and International Relations in executing its yearlong events and activities. The Students' Alumni Cell continuously endeavours to strengthen the relations of the alumni of this institute and their alma mater. Formed as and operating under the Dean, Alumni Affairs and International Relations, the Students' Alumni Cell has been instrumental in organizing the Annual Alumni Meet thereby enhancing and maintaining the highly engaged, and vibrant community of Alumni. Through its several publications like the quarterly alumni newsletter (KGPian), the annual literary magazine (Yearnings of Yore) and the Annual Yearbook, the SAC provides news, analysis and commentary on all things in KGP. It highlights leaders and role models from within the alumni community by organizing regular guest lectures by notable alumni in the campus. The Students' Alumni Cell facilitates relations between current students and alumni by providing opportunities for personal interaction through the Student - Alumni Mentorship Programme. The My Imprint (Giving Back - Alumni contribution) and the annual farewell dinner (Alvida) aim to strengthen feelings of loyalty to and spirit for the alma mater.
Students' Alumni Cell assists the Office of Alumni Affairs & International Affairs in organizing The Annual Alumni Meet to bring together KGPians from around the world and different generations.
Alumni Meet 2010: the 7th Global Alumni Meet (January 2010) saw the arrival of hundreds of alumni at the institute. The meet had events such as panel discussions, performances by the students, cultural programmes like Hasya Kavi Sammelan, photo exhibition showcasing achievements of the institute, and a campus tour.
Alumni Meet 2011: The 8th edition of the Global Alumni Meet was held in January 2011 at IIT Kharagpur.
9th Annual Alumni Meet (6th-8th Jan, 2012): The 9th Annual Alumni Meet, organized on the backdrop of Golden Jubilee celebrations was a highlight of an event packed year. Held from 6th to 8th January 2012 in the campus, the meet witnessed alumni attendance on a grand scale. The events such as campus tour, hall visits helped to showcase the changes that have taken place in the campus.
10th Annual Alumni Meet (4th-6th January, 2013): IIT-KGP is organizing the 10th Annual Alumni Meet from 4th-6th January, 2013. All the esteemed alumni of the batches of 1963 (Golden Jubilee), 1973 (Ruby Jubilee) and 1988 (Silver Jubilee) are cordially invited to be a part of the meet as special guests of honour. With a legacy of a decade behind it, this edition of the Alumni Meet aims to give a chance to the alumni to relive their college days
