Famous quotes containing the word casts:
“Poets are the hierophants of an unapprehended inspiration; the mirrors of the gigantic shadows which futurity casts upon the present; the words which express what they understand not; the trumpets which sing to battle and feel not what they inspire; the influence which is moved not, but moves. Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world.”
—Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822)
“Christ follows Dionysus,
Phallic and ambrosial
Made way for macerations;
Caliban casts out Ariel.”
—Ezra Pound (1885–1972)
“The genius is a genius by the first look he casts on any object. Is his eye creative? Does he not rest in angles and colors, but beholds the design,—he will presently undervalue the actual object.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)
