The Hyundai Tournament of Champions is, through 2013, the opening event of golf's PGA Tour season. Founded as the Tournament of Champions in 1953, the field is restricted to golfers who won a tournament on the tour during the previous season. Beginning with the 2014 edition, it will no longer start the season, as the PGA Tour is switching to an October–September season in 2013.
