Family
Long is a Roman Catholic. He has been married to Diane Addonizio since June 27, 1982, and they have three sons, Christopher (b. 28 March 1985), Kyle (b. 5 December 1988) and Howard Jr. (b.1990). His oldest son, Chris, was drafted 2nd overall in the 2008 NFL Draft as a defensive end for the St. Louis Rams after a very successful career at the University of Virginia. Kyle Long starts for the University of Oregon Ducks as an offensive guard.
